Our end is only God's beginning

In my quiet times I've been continuing my study on trusting in God. With the current circumstances in my life, I thought it would be good to share today's study.

My exploration of trust took me to 2 Chronicles chapter 5 today. Most of the chapter is about the lineage of Reuben and Gad, but then we find this...

"They (Reuben, Gad, and the half-tribe of Manasseh) waged war against the Hagrites, Jetur, Naphish and Nodab. They were helped in fighting them, and God handed the Hagrites and all their allies over to them, because the cried out to him during hte battle. He answered their prayers, because they trusted in him." - 2 Chron 5:19&20

So these guys went out and waged war against a bunch of other folks. In this study I've come across this many times. The Israelites went and waged some sort of war against bigger and stronger foes and either were whooped, or won. Anytime they won it was because they were trusting in God for their victory.

Here we see that they trusted in God, but that they cried out to him in mid-battle. That made me think...

God is looking for us to trust him, not with what we CAN do, but with what we CAN NOT do... or what we think we CAN NOT do. Recently I purchased a house. This is something that I really never thought I would be able to do. And in the process didn't think I'd be able to do. But here I was studying what it means to trust in the Lord, and I found God giving me hints that he was more than able to make this happen all along the way. So in my times of doubt I kept crying out to him to take my fears and doubts and relieve them... counting on him to make it happen. And he did.

Then, one month after we closed on the house, I lost my job. And here I am in the midst of that, crying out to God and he is laying opportunities at my feet. When we cry to God in our struggles and when we trust him to get us through he is there to do what we think we can not do.

When we find ourselves at the point where we feel we are at our end, God is waiting there to show us that he is only beginning. We need to trust him to do more than we think we can, because he will.
